Zug, Switzerland, 13 September 2023 - More access to funding for underrepresented start-up founders can unlock massive investment and innovation opportunities as various studies show that diverse founder teams are consistently delivering better returns.

emma Ventures (“emma”) tackles this potential and provides capital to passionate and mission-driven founders with diverse backgrounds (in terms of gender, race, ethnic background and professional education and careers). The Company focuses on sustainable and impact driven business models primarily in Healthcare, Software/SAAS, Fintech/Insurtech, Edtech, and Consumer. emma acts as lead investor, co-lead or co-investor in Pre-Seed, Seed and Series A rounds. 

The portfolio already includes investments in category leading start-ups such as edtech forerunner cleverly, where emma co-led the latest round together with Capnamic and Rubio Impact Ventures. By investing in the preventive healthcare company CARE, emma partnered with one of the most successful Swiss serial entrepreneurs in the healthcare space. In addition, emma led a EUR 2 million seed round for a digital healthcare company developing an innovative baby monitoring device coming to the market very soon. The investment in Berlin’s leading footwear and accessories brand Aeyde completes the portfolio. 

Katja Baur and Christian Diller, both seasoned Private Equity senior executives, founded emma to foster diversity in the Venture Capital space. They lastly worked together at montana capital partners, a leading European Private Equity Secondaries firm that Christian co-founded in 2011. The company was successfully sold to PGIM, the asset management arm of US insurance giant Prudential in 2021. During their careers, they structured and executed several deals in the Venture Capital and Buyout space and bring their broad experience and network to the table to support founders on their journey to success.
